Taking Stock - September 2016

Welcome to another 'Taking Stock' for 2016. In case you missed any, you can read all of my Taking Stock posts HERE. Pip from Meet Me At Mike is the mastermind behind this, so be sure to check out her blog and share the blog love. This is something I have done since I started blogging and will continue to do, this year. You can read my previous Taking Stock posts HERE. In a nutshell, it's simply taking a step back and 'taking stock' of what's currently happening in your life. I am dedicating the last Tuesday of every month to a Taking Stock post and linking up with the #IBOT team.

Here's what's been happening in the month of SEPTEMBER...

Making: WAFFLES for afternoon tea! What's your favourite topping? Mine would have to be strawberry jam and cream. So good.

Drinking: water

Reading: SPARK JOY by Marie Kondo. I am almost finished my purging journey. I can't wait to get stuck into the kids stuff.

Wanting: all of our drawers to look this good! Love KonMari folding. This drawer sparks joy.

Looking: forward to warmer weather, and spending more time outside! Hello, SPRING!

Deciding: what do to during the school holidays? Here's some ideas JUST FOR YOU. You are welcome. View and Share it on my Facebook

Wishing: myself a 'speedy recovery'. Earlier this month I tore my calf muscle - it was a Grade 2. Very painful. This is my 4th week of recovery and I am doing much better! Bruising is slowly disappearing.

Enjoying: getting #inthepicture with my kids and having fun taking selfies when we are out and about. Did you get in the picture this month?

Feelinga bit emotional ...weaning sucks, especially when it happens and you have no control over it. That being said...I had been cutting out feeds during the day, in the morning and was only left with the night feed - before bed, so I knew it was going to happen, but I thought I would be the one saying 'no more'. Instead, the past two nights my son has fallen asleep early and has gone to bed without a feed and I am left wondering if this is actually it. #breastfeeding #mumlife #weaning

Loving: how my #KMartHack turned out! I used some Adhesive Vinyl - Light Woodgrain and Marble and a couple of pieces of MDF to make these funky Cheese Platters, ready for my Dad's 60th Birthday.

Buying: these two cute little containers to store my Project Life Card and Happy Mail cards. They were $3.99 each from our local dollar store. Perfect!

Helping: out a couple of Mum's to be...I have been organising my son's baby clothes into sizes and will be making up a couple of 'Baby Hampers' for my friends who are expecting boys in a few months.

Sorting: Sentimental - PHOTOS & KEEPSAKES!

Watching: videos from Project 14 - Leanne from Organising the Four of Us is absolutely amazing. I am so glad I signed up - I have learnt so much from Leanne and the amazing ladies in our group. I also recently signed up for Project 14 2.0.

Hoping: to live by my motto 'KEEP LIFE SIMPLE'...doing Project 14 is definitely helping.

Needing: to sort out our Laundry system - which recently got out of control. I used this Adhesive Chalkboard Planner to display our routine, so the whole family knows when I do the washing and I bought a Light & Dark twin hamper! Our new routine is going amazingly and I am washing, drying, folding AND putting away our clothes on the same day! (Yes, I am one of those people now!)

Getting: featured on BUZZFEED! *Squeal* My KonMari - Paper post was featured on Buzzfeed this month! You are read the BuzzFeed post HERE.  How exciting is that?

Celebrating: Father's Day. My partner is an amazing Dad to our son, and wonderful Step-Dad to my daughter. We are so lucky to have him in our lives. Happy Father's Day to my Dad too (who enjoys reading my blog - Hi Dad!)

Looking: forward to sending some #happymail to a few friends. It's been a while...When was the last time your received or sent a hand-written letter?

I am...
Embracing: Keeping Life Simple

    1. Yay! @WonderfullyWomen - How great are the long platters! They are perfect for Christmas - we had one last year, and everyone loved it, however our wood platter didn't last long.

  3. Love all the organising! I tried to organise my tops like that but due to the size of them they just wouldn't sit right, it works ok for t-shirts but other singlets and tops didn't work for me. I keep mine in piles according to colour which works well :)

    1. Yeah I have tops that don't sit right either - so I hang them in my wardrobe. I usually colour code items too. I love opening the drawers and seeing a rainbow. Thank you for stopping by Michelle.

  4. Getting back into my fitness after being slightly unmotivated lately
Loving that our house in Queenstown is about to start being built next month
Enjoying the school holidays and being able to have a few days with the kids in between work.
I love this idea as sometimes you forget to think of lots of little things when actually they can be bigger than you recognise at the time. Thanks for making me stop and appreciate. :)

  5. I love reading your Taking Stock posts! I particularly love your Happy Mail cards - where can I find those?

At the moment I'm feeling a little at a crossroads with where to next in my career. I'm hoping to see a pathway soon :) But I'm appreciating that right now I can spend some time with the girls x

    1. Thank you. The Happy Mail cards are from Spotlight NZ, they were on Clearance, so not sure if they sell them any more. I hope you find a pathway soon xx Thinking of you.
