Hi there! 25 more sleeps 'til Christmas - just saying...

In other news....this week has been MY BIRTHDAY WEEK, and I can tell you now, it's been a pretty amazing week! Instead of writing all about it, I'm going to use the photos I shared on Instagram to tell my story, with a quick caption for each! Here's what I've been Currently up to...

Organising: my Christmas ornaments - well tying the string on each ornament now, so I don't have to do it on the day we put our tree up!

Admiring: my Year 4 (8 year old) class' amazing Warren Pohatu inspired art work - based on the his book - Maori Animal Myths. Last week I shared the vivid outline, and this week the children dyed them, using hot & cold colours! How cool do they look? I am very proud of my kids! They all did a great job.

Reading: some simple & special decorating ideas from this month's Your Home & Garden magazine! So much prettiness in one book! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Inspiring: other women with this quote - Love it!

Sharing: my first FREE printable on the blog - Advent Calendar Bundle - which includes a calendar, 40 activity cards + 10 blank cards & numbers (for your DIY advent)...It also comes in two colours! Grab yours TODAY!

Celebrating: my birthday! Miss B enjoyed putting a special birthday message on our light-box - thanks B x

Squealing: because I got an iPhone 6s for my birthday, from my WONDERFUL and very LOVING family xxx I got the Rose Gold 6s and it's so pretty! I am in love.

Getting: spoilt by my friend, who gave me this gorgeous Dove pamper pack and chocolates for my birthday x

Making: a WISH. We went out to dinner for my birthday (which also happened to be my partner's Christmas Work-Do)...and they treated me (and another 28th November birthday girl who also attended the work-do) with a candle in our scrummy dessert (White Chocolate & Lemon parfait, with mixed berries) whilst singing 'Happy Birthday" - It was so lovely! We had a great night.

Celebrating: another birthday! Today we celebrated one of our SPACE CADET friend's 2nd Birthday - Can you guess the theme? Liam's mama, Katrina is so creative and clever - she made this gorgeous cake for her little man x and it was delicious! Last year I shared Liam's first birthday on the blog - A Car themed party. So cool! Happy Birthday Liam!

Phew! That's all from me! I need to get ready for my Birthday BBQ - our guests will be here soon!

Hope your week has been amazing!
Tell me, what have you been celebrating? Organising? and Making?

Advent Calendar Bundle {with Free Printables}

Do you love Advent Calendars? I do! I love counting the days 'til Christmas, it gives me warm fuzzies. Last year I created a very popular DIY: Advent Calendar using Baby Food Jars. I found some free printables (activity cards and numbers) to decorate the jars and my kids had a lot of fun doing something every day leading up to Christmas - Our first Christmas as a family of four.

Fast forward a year and I am excited about celebrating Christmas in our new home. I decided to buy some new decorations, adding a few more colours to the purple & silver we already had. So our theme this year is 'Bright'. I will be sharing photos of our Christmas tree & decorations next week, so watch this space.

In the meantime, instead of searching for a free printable online for our Advent Calendar, I thought I would give it a go and create my own "Advent Calendar Bundle'! I am loving these printables, so I had to share them with YOU!

Enjoy!
Charlene

*** ADVENT CALENDAR BUNDLE ***
This 'Advent Calendar Bundle' includes: Numbers - you can add to your own DIY Advent Calendar; A Blank Calendar - for you to write down upcoming events or fun activities each day and lastly, Activity Cards - I have included 40 fun, affordable and super easy ideas your children can do independently, with a sibling, a friend, or as a family.

1. Advent Calendar Numbers
Perfect for the DIY Advent Calendar. Print the Number pages - they are grouped by odd and even numbers. Cut them out, and glue them on to your DIY project, whether it's a small box or an envelope. Decorate and embellish as you wish.

2. Advent Calendar Activity Cards
There are 40 Advent Calendar Activity Cards for you to choose from, plus there are 10 blank cards for you to add your own ideas. Simply print the activity cards, cut and add to your Advent Calendar (Blank Calendar) or your Advent Calendar Display.

*** SIMPLE ADVENT CALENDAR IDEA***
  1. Glue the numbers on the front of a small envelope (and decorate if you wish)
  2. Pop an activity card in the envelope
  3. Hang the envelopes on some twine/string using small wooden pegs
  4. Display in your home. (We have ours displayed in our Playroom)

I have also added extra activities and some treats in this Advent Calendar Tree I bought from K Mart.

3. Advent Calendar: Blank Calendar - December
Ideas for Calendar: Pre-plan your Advent Calendar by writing down any upcoming events (e.g. Christmas parties, birthdays) and fill in the rest of the gaps using the Advent Calendar Activity Cards (there are 40 ideas) OR pop the calendar on the fridge and once your child has opened their daily Advent Calendar box or envelope, write the activity on the calendar for the family to see. Get the kids to add Christmas theme stickers to the calendar as well for a bit of fun.

Sunday Share #46 - Currently

Hi there! How's your week been? Are you ready for Christmas? Have you done all your Christmas shopping yet or are you more of a 'last minute' shopper? This week, I put my Teacher hat on - teaching Art, keep scrolling to see the kid's amazing artwork. I have also been wrapping presents, counting down the days 'til Christmas and more. Here's what I've been sharing on my Instagram this week and what we are Currently up to...

Wrapping: presents for my very first (and definitely not the last) #FMSGiftExchange - My person loves purple, so I had to incorporate it in her gift. Love the brown paper and pop of colour. I really hope she likes what I got her. I am tracking the gift very closely.

Buying: this awesome Christmas Lights Storage Bag from K Mart for only $4. Score!

Preparing: my Christmas ornaments. I spent half an hour today adding all the strings to my new decorations. This is going to save me doing it on the 1st December, when we put up and decorate our tree. Eek Can't wait.

Counting: down the days 'til Christmas (I shared this a few days ago)

Teaching: ART this week with a Year 2 (6-7 year olds) class. Inspired by Peter Gossage's book - 'How Maui Slowed The Sun" (A Maori Myth & Legend). These suns are gorgeous and are going to look great in their classroom.

Loving: this Warren Pohatu inspired artwork my Year 4 (8-9 year olds) class did this week. The next step is to colour them. Watch this space for the final product.

Sharing: our Christmas Craft Box on the blog this week for #ToddlerFunFriday. Can't wait to get our 'craft on'.

Just in case you missed it last week...

Fun for Kids: A Christmas Craft Box

I love Christmas and especially crafts! Pinterest is very popular at this time of the year and is usually my go-to place for inspiration. Christmas craft ideas are coming left, right and centre at the moment - and sometimes can be quite overwhelming. I enjoy hands-on crafts, which include paper, stickers and general collage items. It gave me the idea of making a 'Christmas Craft Box' for my kids, especially my toddler - who absolutely loves doing collage.

You can spend a lot of money on craft supplies, especially when you buy the items individually. But thanks to good ol' K-Mart, they have made things a lot easier for us, by creating some awesome Christmas Craft Packs. It didn't take me long to have what I needed for our Christmas Craft Box, and it only took about 10 minutes to put it all together. Enjoy!
*This is NOT a Sponsored post. I purchased all the items myself and wanted to share them with you.

Supplies:
1. The Christmas Sticker Tub is great value at $6 (NZ$), which includes 45 x Adhesive foam stickers, 4 x Plain sticker rolls, 2 x Glitter sticker rolls and 2 x Holographic sticker rolls.  I only put 4 rolls of stickers in our craft box to begin with and have kept the other four rolls as spare.

2. Bumper Xmas Craft Kit with 205 pieces of Craft Supplies - everything you need in one pack! Another great bargain at $6 (NZ$). Includes 100 pom poms, 3 bags of glitter, and 2 adhesive foam sheets. It also has 20 foam figure stickers (reindeer, Santa, Christmas tree, penguin etc), 30 googly eyes and 50 chenille sticks (pipe cleaners) in assorted colours.

3. Our supplies are all stored in a Sistema 7.9 litre container*, includes storage tray (perfect for keeping your supplies organised). In the bottom compartment, I have added some coloured paper (white paper has been added since photos were taken) and the pipe cleaners. *Purchased from The Warehouse (NZ)

I absolutely love our Christmas Craft Box and I can't wait to share it with the kids in the next week or so, as we get closer to Christmas!

Here are some more photos of our Christmas Craft Box, to hopefully inspire you to make your own for your family. Have fun!
Please note: Adult Supervision at ALL times. Small parts included (Choking Hazard)

Will you be making 'A Christmas Craft Box' for your family this year?
