Taking Stock - October 2016

Welcome to another 'Taking Stock' for 2016. In case you missed any, you can read all of my Taking Stock posts HERE. Pip from Meet Me At Mike is the mastermind behind this, so be sure to check out her blog and share the blog love. This is something I have done since I started blogging and will continue to do, this year. You can read my previous Taking Stock posts HERE. In a nutshell, it's simply taking a step back and 'taking stock' of what's currently happening in your life. I am dedicating the last Tuesday of every month to a Taking Stock post and linking up with the #IBOT team.

Here's what's been happening in the month of OCTOBER...
I have been super quiet on the blog this past month, taking an impromptu mini break from posting, however I am hoping to get back into this week, so watch this space!

Making: this cheese platter for my Dad's 60th birthday. I made the platter myself, using 1 metre piece of wood and covering it with Marble Vinyl Adhesive I bought from KMart recently. It was a hit on the day! I also made a light wood grain one too.

Drinking: a cup of tea, while writing this post

Reading: posts and comments from the person I have been given for this year's #FMSGiftExchange - +Fat Mum Slim - I know exactly what I'm going to get her!

Wanting: all the pretty Christmas decorations! Most shops in our city (including KMart) have started to put out their Christmas displays...and I am in awe! I do love Christmas, and have yet to decide what colour theme we are going to have! I do love mint, however I also love our Merry & Bright Christmas theme I did last year. Do you have a colour theme for Christmas?

Looking: forward to growing our own little garden! Thanks to New World's Little Garden! We have lettuce, cherry tomatoes, radishes, carrots, capsicum, thyme, leek, cabbage plus more...UPDATE: Our little garden is growing! Next step is to find a new home for them...in a bigger garden!

Deciding: to keep it real! "This week has been hard and I have been struggling emotionally and my home has suffered. I hit rock bottom, but now I'm ready to take control! This morning I set the timer for 15 minutes and tidied our main living areas - kitchen, lounge/dining, bathroom and even made our bed before heading to Playcentre...but left the playroom, which has not been tidied all week (excuse the bean bag couch - that usually belongs in the external office)...so this is my mission this afternoon! Operation: Tidy Playroom - I know it's going to make me feel better having our home back in order! My home is far from perfect and this is proof, however I have systems in place and it won't take me long. I don't feel as overwhelmed like I used to, which is testament to how much I have worked to 'keep life simple'. I had a bad few days...but now I'm back"

Wishing: this!

Enjoying: having a clean kitchen at the start of the week! I have started to clean my home in zones...Zone 1 (Monday) is the kitchen...It sets the tone for the rest of the week, and it doesn't take long to clean at the end of the day.

Feeling: blessed because I have these two in my life! My crazy kids - Love them.

Loving: my vision board! This is only a snap shot of what I want from life! I absolutely love it...(created in PicMonkey). Do you have a vision board?

Buying: this super cute 'Tiny tractor' themed Plunket cover book from FinndieLoo. Miss B is still deciding which cover she wants...and I am contemplating getting one of the Diary/Planner covers but need to decide on which one I want. So many gorgeous options.

and I couldn't resist buying this mint #love mini photo album from Typo! Perfect little brag book!

Helping: inspire others - My friend shared this photo on her FB...her husband has found a solution to keep those pesky appliance cords organised and I LOVE IT! (photo shared with permission).

Sorting: and organising my Lightbox letters in this business card holder - idea inspired by Sarah from Keeping Up With the Joneses

Watching: Season 2 of Secrets and Lies - it's one of my favourite TV series (oh and House Rules)

Hoping: to share how I konmari'd my Digital clutter on the blog VERY SOON! It's been a massive job and I have needed time to get through it all...All will be revealed soon, so be sure to watch this space!

Needing: new jandals for Summer...so I got these black with gold Havaianas using some of my FlyBuys points! LOVE!

Getting/Celebrating: #inthepicture with my kids and my Dad, who turned 60 a couple of weeks ago. Happy Birthday Dad/Papa - we love you. xxx

Looking: forward to new work opportunities in the new year!

I am...
Embracing: the motto...Keep Life Simple

  1. Your blog is very inspirational (I usually don't leave comments but wanted to let you know). There's always something I can take away or that inspires me to give it a go myself. In particular today I love the "marble" cheese board! Very clever, and yummy looking!

  2. That cheese board is cracking - you did such an ace job! I see your dad has great taste in soccer teams, what a guy! I hope he had a great birthday. Pleased to hear you're feeling better and back on track. I must try that zoning too - it would probably save a lot of time, not to mention energy! Here's to a ab fab November!
