TAKING STOCK - NOVEMBER 2016

Welcome to another 'Taking Stock' for 2016. In case you missed any, you can read all of my Taking Stock posts HERE. Pip from Meet Me At Mike is the mastermind behind this, so be sure to check out her blog and share the blog love. This is something I have done since I started blogging and will continue to do, this year. You can read my previous Taking Stock posts HERE. In a nutshell, it's simply taking a step back and 'taking stock' of what's currently happening in your life. I am dedicating the last Tuesday of every month to a Taking Stock post and linking up with the #IBOT team.

Here's what's been happening in the month of NOVEMBER...

Making: memories with my children #inthepicture. I can't wait to get in the picture more over the Summer holidays - I challenge you to do the same. Do you accept the challenge?

Drinking: a milo with marshmallows (made by my daughter) Yum.

Reading:  Be Mindful & Simplify Your Life by Kate James
From my IG "As most of you know, I have been on a "Keep Life Simple" journey this year. I have completed declutter challenges with @peterwalshorganizer and the 20 Day Challenge with @organised_house taken part in Project 14 & Project 14 2.0 with@organisingthe4ofus as well as following@mariekondo KonMari method in my home, which I have almost finished.Yay! This is something I am passionate about and I love sharing my journey with others, hopefully inspiring people along the way. I have worked hard this year, and currently fine-tuning systems and routines I have put in place - I have seen positive changes in my home, my life, work and my relationships. Now, it's time to focus on ME! I am really looking forward to making a hot cup of tea and losing myself in my new favourite read: Be Mindful & Simplify Your Life by Kate James. (Thank you, Jules <3 for my early birthday present)"

Wanting: a 'Box of Sunshine' for myself after putting this one together for a lovely lady across the ditch (in Australia). I hope she loves it. This is my second year taking part in Fat Mum Slim's Gift Exchange. I am also doing the NZ Twitter Secret Santa, with NZ Post, and a Blogger's Card Exchange - Yay for Happy Mail.

Looking: after our new Sunflower plants. Master M planted the seeds with his carer, and brought them home last week. We planted them in our garden. They are expected to grow approximately 1.8 metres.

Deciding: it was time to transition Master M from Cot to Big Boy Bed - and this is what we did. He loves his new bed (gotta love recycling furniture right?). Another massive milestone that happened this month was deciding to fully wean Master M. The transition for both milestones was surprisingly smooth!

Wishing: I organised my laptop years ago. It took me 2 months, on and off, to sort through everything on my MacBook Pro, hence why I have been quiet on the blog.

Enjoying: an impromptu family road trip to the beach - it was a stunning day! Miss B even had her first swim of 'Summer' - in her clothes too (she was lucky I had a towel and change of clothes in the car for her). Hello Summer!

Organising: my MacBook Pro - this is the BEFORE photo! Stay tuned for the AFTER.

Feeling: special. My partner and I don't go out for many date nights (2-3 a year), so when we do...I always buy a new outfit (well it's usually from the op shop, but it's new to me and my wardrobe). I tend to buy something I can wear again for work or for other special occasions. I am really glad I bought this blue jacket - it's a new favourite - I got a lot of compliments when we were at my partner's work do, so it must be a winner.

Loving: my new planner for 2017/2018 from The Warehouse NZ

Buying: a few goodies for ME, for my birthday - including a Marble case for my MacBook Pro, a tripod for my iPhone and some active wear1 Ooohh!

Helping: set the scene for Halloween 2016. This was my little display for the 30+ trick o' treaters we had on the 31st October.

Sorting: Miss B's school memorabilia and filing it away in these plastic folders - School photos, reports, writing samples, art and certificates all in ONE PLACE! Thanks +IHeart Organizing  for the inspiration. @

Watching: Gilmore Girls - A Year in the Life. For the first seven years of my daughter's life, I was a single Mum and I idolised the relationship Lorelai and Rory had. I hope my daughter and I are as close when she hits 16+. I laughed, smiled, cried, swooned, and gasped throughout the four episodes. I watched all 4 from 9pm NZT (Live) right through to 3am NZT - and today I questioned why I'm so tired...my GG marathon has finally caught up with me. Are you a GG fan? Have you watched the new episodes? (NO SPOILERS PLEASE)

Needing: to remember: KEEP LIFE SIMPLE as we head into the festive season.

Getting: rid of all my 'digital clutter' has changed my life and the storage space on my laptop! This has been, by far, the hardest and biggest category for me to date, yes even bigger than PAPER. Post coming soon, just adding the final details! (watch this space)

Celebrating: my birthday! My bestie bought me a 'Dunkin' Donuts' Cake! So good.

  1. Finishing(!): fixing 3 boxes of broken books that I've had for 5 years through 5 moves. Remembering: that even if I don't feel I can inspire anyone else, I can pass on a blessing if I just take a moment... So... Taking: a moment to send you God's blessing on your life. I really appreciate your blog and the inspiration it has been to me, to *start* somewhere and not give up.
